18th November - Sicuani, not quite Cusco / by David Harrison

It's a long drive from Puno to Cusco so late arvo we found somewhere, purely by chance, to stay for the night.  Hotel Wilkamayu welcomed us with open arms - we were their only guests!  The town of Sicuani is a small place. TripAdvisor lists just #1 of 1 things to do here - visit a nightclub called Space Club.  Too much altitude for clubbing - so we opted for the slap-up spread on offer at Wilkamayu - beef (David hoped) and chicken (Amanda was quite sure) plus a maize dish called Choclo al Comino.

Down this way the locals mostly grow maize, drive vehicles like this, wear hats like that and eat guinea pigs like the other - yes that's Cuy - a local delicacy - roasted Guinea Pig served whole with a side order of spuds!

Amanda says at >3,500 metres above sea level she's still too high for tenting!!
