Do you long to trade your SmartPhone for a fishing pole? You’ll find like-minded vacationers and an angler’s paradise at Conconully State Park in the Okanogan Region.
Fish from two lakes: Lower Conconully, on which the park sits, and Upper Conconully, known locally as Salmon Lake. Catch Smallmouth Bass, Rainbow Trout and Kokanee, or rig up your Waterskiing line, and take the kids for a tow.
After a day of fishing, swimming, watersports and horseshoes, there will be time to relax in your Campsite. Let the kids play on the springy grass fields. Pitch your tent or rent one of five Charming Cabins near the lower lake.
Yes we did, so we did! Rented one of their five Charming Cabins. Most charming feature was its Air-Con which was much appreciated in the 40 degree heat!
Families of White Tailed Deer roamed the Town with Bambi style babies, wandering into gardens munching their floral displays! Families of White Faced Folks roamed the Town in fleets of ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) and Quad Bikes, munching their fried chicken & chips!!
Conconully, originally Salmon City, began life as a Gold Miners Camp and was officially incorporated in November 1908. Has two large Bars - each big enough for everyone in town - 'Sit'n'Bull' more of a TV Sport Enthusiasts' Bar so we plumped for 'Red Rock Saloon' authentically Wild West without even trying!!! As well as Strong Beer the Red Rock had Strong Air-Con and Strong WiFi. Spent much of our three day Conconully stay on their Terrace or in their Bar! Too hot for anything else!!!
That's a genuine fully operative Post Office BTW - David sent his Carhartt Work-trousers back to Amazon Prime from there! (Free delivery/Free return - first month FOC).
As for local Fishing, David did catch himself a Trout! Woman behind the Red Rock bar on day three charged him for 10 beers when he'd only had 5! Told the Old Trout he'd caught her out and demanded his $20 back PLUS his $6 Tip!! Messin with the wrong guy, lady!!!
