19th January - La Cruz / by David Harrison

Gotta keep heading North!

Borders are best crossed early in the morning, so after departing the lovely Los Pinos, we drove 180km North to La Cruz - just 18.9km from the Nicaraguan Frontera. Nice and close for our early start Manana.

Booked a great sounding place via booking.com - Hotel Punta Descartes - except it wasn't!   Booking.com conned us once again!! Maybe Punta Descartes translates to Shabby Dump? It's the drab pink coloured place in the photos - judge for yourselves!

We swerved that one, drove round town for a while, and found a lovely place all by ourselves! Really should have learned our booking.com lesson by now!!

Hotel La Mirada had availability con Cama Matrimonial - each room had a name - ours was Hattie! And secure parking behind a BIG gate!! For Dinner they recommended the Transport Cafe at the end of the road - it was great - and cheap! And full of Truckers!!

We did venture back to Hotel Shabby Dump later - to enjoy the Sunset Vista from their Al Fresco Bar - fantastic views of the Pacific Coast 10km away - with a couple of chilled beers!
