After much 'Waiting List' shenanigans we were the last vehicle aboard La Tehuelche with just 2 minutes and 2 inches to spare ..... it was to be a bumpy ride, there's a storm a brewing!
No photos were taken, too choppy for that. Amanda green at the gills - David busy wolfing down cold Completos straight from the packet!
Hurrah - three roller-coaster hours later we arrived safely in Chile Chico - now 9:30pm - and drove through town in the dark. Couldn't see a thing. Then we remembered the windows are tinted so we wound them down, until a stray dog tried to jump in the car to join us. Headed out of town and found the most beautiful Belgian farmhouse called Hosteria de la Patagonia www.hosteriadelapatagonia.cl
The friendly Mauricio proudly showed us the log burning Victorian era boiler in the cellar, old fashioned kitchen range, collection of antique kettles and coffee jugs in the fancy dining room, his rifle kept in Recepcion for shooting hares (he enjoys hare stew!), log burning hot tub in the garden, vintage farming tool collection, and his chickens, (disappointingly no eggs for breakfast). All very interesting at 10:00pm after a gruelling crossing!
