What to do with the 130,000,000 cubic metres of rock and soil excavated whilst digging the Panama Canal? How about building a Causeway from Panama City to the 4 small islands 2 Km offshore - and in the process create a breakwater to protect ships!

The original Causeway received a recent makeover and now has a delightful walkway and cycle path connecting Panama City with the islands of Naos, Culebra, Perico and Flamenco. It's a tourist destination with Boat Marinas, Bars and Restaurants - and a lovely place to take a stroll (in the 35 degree heat and 95% humidity - helps work up a thirst for the Bars on Isla Flamenco!)

Swerving the Tourist Honey Traps, we found a great harbourside cafe/bar busy with local workers having their lunch - sure there was a menu with photos of the tourist fare, but the locals were all eating spicy chicken soup with rice and salad - could have been a repeat of the Chicken's Feet soup episode - luckily not - instead a delicious lunch for two at a cost of just $3.68 - washed down with deep chilled Panama Lager at $2 a bottle!

Across the quay's moored the Bling Gin Palace of some rich Yank - (photo below) - named 4now!  Chicken Soup and Chilled Panama Lager will do me 4now thanks!!

En route home, we near the Causeway's junction with Panama City as a Thunderstorm booms in the distance - time to hop in a Yellow Cab and hoof it back to Panama Pacifico where heavy rain traps us in the Supermarket for an hour - luckily they're having a stock clearance on Machetes and David is in his element trying out the 4 different lengths and 3 different blade shapes - only $4.50 a go - sadly we don't have transport and have to travel light until we and Pablo are reunited!!

Heavy rain all evening - still 35 degrees and 95% humidity! Tropical weather!! Weird !!!
