Will there be Monkeys?
Wait and see!
From Granada we travelled just 16km to El Triangulo at Laguna de Apoyo - a lake in the caldera (huge crater) of an ancient extinct volcano - 6 km wide and 175 m deep, and stayed at a Hostel called The Monkey Hut, on the Laguna's shore.
In search of the elusive Howler Monkey we took a long walk around the Lagoon, past local dwellings, cows with big floppy ears, and children playing in the deep waters. At the end of our walk we found what we had really been looking for! A local restaurant where we enjoyed several litre bottles of Victoria Clasica and a big bowl of Chicken Soup!!
On the way back to our Hut, two friendly Monkeys kindly posed for us to take their photo!!! Amanda called in at the corner shop for Vino Blanco - and came back with Rosa de Jamaica - a lively red coloured beverage best served chilled with lots of ice. You'll see the after effects in the pictures below!!
